Protecting Your Permanent Makeup in Summer

Sun, sea and pools are permanent makeup's biggest enemies. Practical ways to prevent colour loss in summer.

Permanent makeup withstands summer; but unprotected pigment fades far faster under sun and chlorine.

Sun: The Number-One Fader

UV rays break down pigment molecules. Make sunscreen on brows, lips and liner a daily habit; a hat and sunglasses add extra protection.

Sea and Pool

Salt water and chlorine fade pigment and are risky for work still healing. For fresh PMU, sea and pool are completely off-limits for the first 30 days; avoid long exposure afterwards too.

Planning Appointments in Summer

  • Schedule new work at least a month before your holiday
  • Don't place touch-ups in peak sun periods
  • Planning refreshes for autumn extends colour life

The Fix for Faded Colour

If colours have lightened by summer's end, no panic: a single refresh session restores lost density. If the colour has shifted (greying, redness), neutralization is considered.
