Permanent Makeup Aftercare: The First 30 Days
A day-by-day healing guide: what to do during scabbing and the habits that protect your pigment.
Half of a PMU result is shaped in the session, the other half in aftercare. Your care in the first 30 days determines the colour's life and balance.
Days 1–3: The Intense Phase
The area is slightly swollen and the colour looks darker than it should; this is completely normal. Keep the area away from water and apply the recommended cream in a thin layer.
Days 4–10: Scabbing
Light scabbing and flaking begin. The most critical rule: never pick the scabs. Every picked scab takes pigment with it and disrupts colour distribution.
Days 11–30: Colour Settling
After the scabs fall, the colour may look faded; pigment keeps settling in the lower layer. The true colour becomes clear around week 4 and is balanced with a touch-up session.
Avoid for 30 Days
- Sauna, hammam, pools and the sea
- Tanning beds and direct sun; make SPF a habit afterwards
- Peels and acid products on the area
Follow these rules and your permanent makeup stays balanced and vivid for years.
