Hairstroke Technique

The hairstroke technique (microblading) is a permanent makeup application that fills the gaps in your brows with fine, hair-like strokes. Each stroke is drawn one by one, following the natural growth direction of the brow; the goal is a natural, full and groomed shape rather than an artificial look. Done correctly, the result is indistinguishable from real hair, both up close and from a distance.

Who Is It For?

It suits anyone with lost, sparse or asymmetric brow hair who doesn't want to deal with brow makeup every morning. The brow shape is decided together after a facial analysis, in harmony with your hair and skin tone and your facial proportions. On very oily, porous skin the strokes can blur over time, so for those skin types ombre or hybrid techniques may give a healthier result; we decide on the most suitable technique together during the consultation.

How Is It Done?

First the brow is designed and measured to your facial symmetry, a pigment matched to your skin and hair tone is selected, and your approval is taken. After a topical anaesthetic, fine hair strokes are applied one by one in different directions and lengths. The treatment takes about 1.5–2 hours. In permanent makeup the design stage is the most critical part of the result, so we agree on the shape together before moving to the needle.

Healing Process and Timeline

• **Days 1–3:** The brows look darker and more defined because the work is fresh; this is normal.
• **Days 4–7:** Light scabbing and itching may occur; the area must not be scratched and scabs must not be picked.
• **Days 7–14:** As the scabs shed, the colour can look very light (the "ghost phase"); the pigment continues to settle under the skin.
• **Weeks 3–4:** The true colour and definition emerge. At this stage a touch-up session within 4–6 weeks completes the fine tuning.

Longevity and Aftercare

Hairstroke brows generally last 1–2 years depending on skin type; the time can be shorter on oily skin. An annual refresh session is recommended to keep the colour and shape vibrant. During healing, protecting the area from the sun, pools and saunas and applying the recommended aftercare cream directly affect the quality of the result.
