Pre-Procedure Guide: Preparing for Permanent Makeup
What to do and avoid before your appointment: proper prep directly affects both comfort and pigment retention.
The success of permanent makeup is not only about the session itself; pre-procedure prep directly affects the quality of the result.
One Week Before
- Stop peels, retinol and acid products on the treatment area
- Avoid tanning beds and heavy sun
- For brow work, stop plucking; the design is based on your natural form
24–48 Hours Before
- Consult your doctor about blood-thinning medications such as aspirin
- Avoid alcohol and heavy caffeine; both increase sensitivity and bleeding
- Moisturize your lips before lip work
On the Day
Arrive without makeup on the area, wear comfortable clothes and allow a few minutes for aftercare instructions. If you have a history of cold sores, ask your doctor about preventive treatment before lip procedures.
Proper prep means a more comfortable session, less sensitivity and more even pigment retention.
